S&H - Science & Humanities

The Department of Science and Humanities started functioning from the very inception of the institution .It aims at providing competitive quality education and support the students to set basic intense foundation in all the branches of Engineering. It is a multidisciplinary department and started functioning in the year 2000 with a team of dedicated faculty members who have been actively engaged in imparting quality teaching of the courses in basic science and humanities for graduating engineering students. The core courses offered being Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Environmental science. All the disciplines in the department exist as a separate division and maintain individual identity.  Besides OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION, the department inculcates VALUE BASED EDUCATION. Developing the moral behavior among the students, utilizing the human resources and co-ordinating academic responsibilities are the exclusive potentials of the department.

The department has spacious and best equipped laboratories in, Physics, Chemistry and English. The department aims to transfer the younger generation into responsible citizens and aspires to lead the budding engineers towards the path of success. It seeks to sustain and enhance excellence in an institution of higher learning of technology. It is committed to produce competent graduates with the suitable skills required for industry and market place adding to provide better communication skills and societal obligations. To expose the students to the latest trends in relevant subjects, the department organizes a series of guest lectures every academic year. To keep abreast with the latest demands of the industry the department strives to impart various skills like communication skills, technical skills, soft skills and essential life skills to the young aspirants of the institution.  The department is committed to provide innovative and high quality instruction that empowers students to become confident in facing personal and professional life challenges.

VISION

The Department is the gate way of Engineering Education and is committed to provide innovative, high quality instruction that empowers students to become globally accepted Technical Professionals and responsible citizens.

MISSION

M1: To provide unique outcome based learning experience in Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry and English

M2: To instill in students the attitudes, values, vision, and training that will prepare them for lifetime of continued learning and leadership in engineering and other fields.

M3: To develop Life skills & behavioural training programs among the student community to become world class leaders for their chosen core field.

HOD'S Message

"Education is not preparation for life, Education is life itself”

Welcome to Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology, Department of Science & Humanities (S&H). I am pleased to get connected to you and share my message this way.The department has a rich curriculum and allied activities to provide a comprehensive education for B.E &B.Tech graduates. It has a set objective to create human excellence along with academic excellence. It prepares them to be technically well-off, to be critical thinkers, productive citizens, and leaders in a wide range of careers, government as well as an array of managerial options in the private sector. The department correlates with 15 undergraduate programmes. I hold the opinion that every student who is entrusted to us is precious and their sincerity, character and conduct are as precious as their studies.

Our Infrastructure

Chemistry Laboratory

The chemistry department serves the purpose of imparting knowledge in the core science subject, which is a foundational building block for most engineering disciplines. As such, high tech labs with the latest technological gizmos greet any students and faculty members of the college looking to strengthen their base in this subject. The department also possesses a classical chemistry lab which has been structured with a vision of transforming it into an excellent centre for research in the frontier areas of applied chemistry and allied branches. The Chemistry lab is well equipped with various sophisticated equipments, which help in carrying out the experiments in fruitful manner.

Physics Laboratory

The Physics Laboratory operates within the Department of Science & Humanities. The spacious and well set Physics laboratory helps the students to gain thorough knowledge about the experiments. It consists of a very well equipped dark room to carry out optics experiments. The labs comprise individual experiments describing general physics principles covering a range of topics including mechanics, light, fiber optics and magnetism. Many of the experiments are designed to improve understanding for physics of everyday life. Our aim is to make the students efficient enough to carry out experiments and projects independently and to achieve the ability to think in an innovative way.
