Hindusthan College of Engineering and Technology (HiCET) has developed 15 strong uniqueness in the institution for the future-focused engineering education. Here are the USPs:
1. Infrastructure:
HiCET has state-of-the-art infrastructure, including modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a library with a vast collection of books, journals, and online resources, and a world-class auditorium. The campus is spread over 160 acres in a valley along with sister institutions and provides an excellent environment for learning, innovation and research.
2. Faculty:
The institution has highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are experts in their respective fields. They are dedicated to providing students with the best education and guidance to help them achieve their career goals.
3. Industry-Academia Collaboration:
HCET has collaborations with top industries to provide students with opportunities to gain practical knowledge and experience. The college has signed 120+ MoUs with many companies such as IBM, ICT Academy, NASSCOM, Infosys, Wipro, Royal Enfield, Ford, and Oracle, which help students to get internships, projects, and job opportunities.
4. Research and Innovation:
The institution encourages and supports research and innovation among students and faculty members. It has a many research centres / centres of excellences / competency development centres / industry-partnered centres that focuses on cutting-edge technologies and provides resources to undertake research and development activities.
5. Entrepreneurship Development:
HiCET has an Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) that helps students to develop entrepreneurial skills and encourages them to start their own ventures. The EDC conducts various workshops, seminars, and training programs to impart knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship. As many as 130+ entrepreneurs have emerged in the past few years.
6. Placement:
HiCET has an excellent track record of placement with top companies. The college has a dedicated placement cell that provides training, counseling, and placement assistance to students. The college has an 80% placement record in many programmes.
7. Hinnovation Centre and AICTE-IDEA Lab:
AICTE-IDEA Lab encourages students for the application of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fundamentals towards enhanced hands – on experience, learning by doing and even product visualization. As a common facility embedded in the institution, the IDEA Lab will make the engineering graduates more imaginative and creative, besides that, students can able to become familiar about the 21st century skills like critical thinking, problem solving, design thinking, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning etc. It has facilities to ideate and prototype the ideas for student projects, events like Hackathon, Toycathon, Supra, Baja, Go-Kart, Efficycle etc. A total of 46 events were conducted. Idea Lab facilitated 221 patents, 14 projects and 3 start-ups.
8. MSME Incubation Centre:
Hindusthan Innovative Product Development Centre is a space for new age entrepreneurs and young minds to transform their innovative ideas into viable business propositions. This Incubation centre was approved by the Ministry of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) to implement the scheme of ‘Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of SMEs through Incubators’. This centre provides technological assistance to incubate which will be generated through mentors with multidisciplinary expertise. So far 8 incubates have been benefitted through HIPDC from various field. The Incubates Are AR Laser Fabricators, Saraswathy Fence, GSR Vaagai Mara Chekku Aalai, Vipra E-Vehicles, Eswar Enterprises, Redeem, E.T.I.S Enterprises and DNXT Ideas India Pvt Ltd etc.
9. SAE Club and Centre of Excellence in Electric Vehicles:
The Club was established with 10,000 sq ft in 2014 to aim to provide facilities to the students for learning and creating new technologies in the area of E-mobility. Also, to provide its members to encourage participating in different SAE competitions like BAJA, SUPRA, EFFICYCLE etc. Year-wise about 100+ students get trained and in the past 5 years, 38 awards including overall winner/runner-up championship were achieved by SAE in SAE Efficycle, SAE BAJA, SAE Supra, Hybrid Vehicle Challenges and Solar Vehicle Competitions.
10. DGCA Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO):
Remote Pilot Training Organization is established with Indira Gandhi Rashriya Uran Akademi and approved by DGCA with the aim of developing Drone pilots. Students can able to get Hands on Experience based on the pilot training. During the month of May 2022, a national level drone championship event was organized in HiCET named SWAD drone championship in association with Planet-X Aerospace industry. Totally 18 teams were participated from all over south India.
11. IBM Software Lab:
HiCET is the first Engineering College in Coimbatore region to have a tie-up with IBM to offer integrated courses through IBM Career Education in BE-CSE, BE-ECE, BTech-IT and BTech-AI&ML programs. IBM conducts student training program, guest lectures, seminars, and workshops. IBM software tools like IBM Watson, IBM Mural, Jupyter notebook, Eclipse, IBM DB2 and JENKINS are available. As a part of the MoU, many programs were organized in which 370 students got benefited. A total of 50 students and 2 faculty members have visited the IBM Bengaluru campus to grasp the latest industry practices.
12. Centre of Excellence in Drone Technology supported by Planet-X Aerospace:
To design, develop and train in the field of Drone Technology, the institution has established the centre in 2021. Later, the centre is associated with an industry partner, Planet-X Aerospace Services Pvt Ltd, Madurai. Drones for Agricultural services, Photogrammetry, Survey and Mapping, Surveillance, etc are designed and developed from this centre. Also, about 100+ students are trained and certified in Drone Anatomy. This centre also trained the basic Drone Technology to 60+ students of Government ITI, Coimbatore. The centre successfully registered a start-up, namely, De Drone World Solutions Pvt Ltd.
13. IPR Nodal Centre:
HiCET was sanctioned with IPR Nodal Centre in 2021 by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu. Regularly the centre conducts activities to motivate the faculty and students to file patent for their innovative work and projects. As many as 446 patents are published in the past five years in which 58 are granted.
14. Volvo Eicher and Royal Enfield Competency Development Centres:
The main motto of Volvo Eicher Competency Development Centre is to provide a well-organized training for students at par with Industry requirements and standards. It is one of the primitives in the state of Tamilnadu, second entire pan of India. This center has state-of-the-art facilities to teach the latest BS-VI emission technology, commercial CNG engines, and sensors that are used in the latest generation of heavy-duty vehicles. This learning center benefited 49 faculty members and 1089 students. Royal Enfield Competency Development Centre is first of its kind in Tamilnadu, established in 20,000 sq.ft. It has facilities to learn the latest technology in two-wheelers, viz., BS-VI enabled single and twin cylinder engines, cut-section models, real-time prototypes, and a virtual learning studio. A total of 32 faculties and 294 students are trained from this center.
15. Digital Learning Centre:
HiCET provides the students the latest trends in Digital Learning to meet the updated global needs and through this, the students are largely benefitted. The core objective is to bring students under digital era and for this purpose the institution creates opportunities, awareness and motivates them towards self-learning practices. Digital learning through online platforms began in the year 2018 in the institution. In the past 5 years, a total of 81,662 certificates in the areas of new-era technology, skill development and real-time domain specific knowledge are obtained by the Students and Teachers from Online.
