B.Tech Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering owes its inception and its growth to its present state to the magnanimity and vision of the Institute. The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the academic year 2019-2020 with a student intake of 60 and offers a UG Programme (B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering. Chemical Engineering is one of the most popular branches of engineering which deals with the large-scale production of chemicals. Chemical Engineers apply both the knowledge of chemistry and principles of engineering to create procedures that implement technology in full scale production. Chemical Engineers are also called as process engineers, who operate in a wide range of industries related to chemicals, petrochemicals, bio-chemicals, food preservation, medicines, electronic materials, other materials used in daily life, energy, and environment etc.

Department of Chemical Engineering has highly qualified faculty, many of them are with Ph.D Degree. Faculty is doing research (besides teaching) in the areas of natural product extraction, wastewater treatment, adsorption, catalyst preparation etc. The research works are published in reputed journals and conferences. Department of Chemical Engineering has the state-of-art laboratory equipment and specialized software’s (AspenPlus, MatLab, Ansys, LabView) for carrying out research. The Department has much industrial collaboration for up-skilling the students and faculty members by providing industrial practical exposure. Also, it has signed MoU with RCPSDC (Rubber, Chemical and Petrochemical Skill Development Council), under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Three of the faculty members are up-skilled and have become certified trainer under the qualification pack of Lab Chemist (Rubber) conforming to NSQF (Level-5) and 40 students registered and undergoing training with the curriculum offered by the RCPSDC. Also, it has an active IIChE Professional Chapter with 110+ students’ members. Chemical Engineering in HiCET has been awarded as the BEST EMERGING DEPARTMENT in the year 2021.

HOD'S Message

“Start a career and be pinnacled as universal engineers”

We believe that a vibrant undergraduate program can attract the young minds and craft them to be master in physical, chemical, engineering process and design. Students are carefully and creatively shaped to solve complex problems like translating molecular information into new products and process through systematic programs in association with industry and academia. We endeavor to create environment to welcome students to participate and work together with faculty to create better Chemical Engineering Department in HiCET. We seek new opportunities with industries to mould our students to match industry needs. We as a chemical engineers make a difference in every day quality of life of everybody. Our educational model is designed to enable our chemical engineering students to develop and integrate technical and scientific knowledge through simultaneous and bit-by-bit competency development of social and management skills. External training from industry and continuous learning with online education providers like NPTEL, Coursera and Edx, of help the students to develop the competencies.  We realize the demand for skilled professionals in water treatment and process industries, our institute connect with industry like Zero Discharge Technologies to understand the advanced water treatment processes in the chemical and its allied industries. This industrial connects help our students to make them industry ready.
