B.E. Mechanical Engineering (Accredited by NBA)

Department of Mechanical Engineering is among the prolific departments started functioning from the Year 2000. The department has got a team of highly qualified, experienced faculty members, many holding PhD’s from different specializations to teach and train the young minds of the country. The department has modern facilities, state of the art infrastructure enabling the students to learn in a wide spectrum of technological areas. Our curriculum has been shaped to provide technical depth in the areas most relevant to what students or likely to do after graduation. Our syllabus involves subjects of industry preparedness, opportunities for placement and technology for future. The Hallmark of our department is providing advanced opportunities for students to design, build, analyze and fabricate future concept vehicles like All Terrain vehicle (ATV), efficient tricycle, electric cars, hybrid vehicles, solar cars and Formula one cars by the way of participating in National level major competitions.

We have guided our students to excel and reap awards in competitions like BAJA, Efficycle, SUPRA conducted by professional bodies like SAE among premier institutions across the country. Our department has active research groups in almost all areas of Mechanical Engineering including composite materials, welding, surface engineering, quality control and largely renewable energy. We have outstanding global contributions in terms of projects and research publications in solar and wind energy fields. Our Department is recipient of funded projects from various Agencies like DST, AICTE, TNSCST, ICMR and MSME. We have developed an ecosystem involving incubation, mentoring, IPR awareness, developing startups and building entrepreneurs. Department has intensely supported our incubation center by proposing innovative ideas and grooming them through project proposals. Many of our faculty are recipient of prestigious awards and recognitions.

HOD'S Message

“Mechanical engineers do it with less energy and greater efficiency”

We are pioneers in vehicle building activitie based competitions challenged across the country and conducted by world renowned professional societies like SAE. Our students are guided to design, model, simulate, analyse and fabricate future concept vehicles like solar car, Hybrid Electric car, Electric Tricycle, All Terrain vehicle and formula one car. In our specially furnished BAJA workshop attached to our incubation center, the students are subjected to intensive conceptual, analytical, computational, and practical work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our campus has a government-approved MSME business incubator, which is primarily run by our innovation team.We ideate, incubate, propose to various funding agencies like DST, NSRDEB, MSME and move forward to provide possible, secured patenting. We play major roles in conducting workshops, seminars and other live sessions to make the college IPR club very active. We support lots of activities coming under the Purview of IIC-HICET. We are striving to provide a strong Eco system to nurture innovation, entrepreneurship, IPR, startup related programs in our campus. Faculty with Ph.D.s, extensive teaching experience, and a wide range of skills are present in our department to educate students in different fields of engineering interest and quality emergence. Many of our professors are pioneers in fields such as solar energy, wind energy, vibration analysis, vehicle dynamics, and welding. I strongly believe real worth mentioning transformation will take place for the takers of Mechanical program in our campus.
