B.E. Automobile Engineering (Accredited by NBA)

The Department of Automobile Engineering was established in the year of 2014 with the student’s sanctioned intake 60. The department has well-qualified and experienced faculty and staff members of proven ability and administrative skills and state- of -the art infrastructural developments achieved in various horizons. It has well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories that cater to the needs of the students. The department is actively engaged in teaching and research in the areas of Automobile Engineering and related areas.The department received funds from AICTE, CSIR, TNSCST, PMKVY, PRERANA for the Research and Development Project and conduct various national and international events. The curriculum and syllabus twinned based on Industry 4.0 and Education 4.0 requirements.

The Department boasts Centre of Excellence established with Volvo Eicher Commercials Vehicle and Royal Enfield.  Recently, signed a MoU’s signed with PE Industries, Roots, ATS ELGI and AmbalAutos and made collaboration with Ashok Leyland 3i Cell, Ampere Vehicles, SVM Motors and JK Tyre foresees an eventual partnership with industries. The Ford India Pvt Ltd, sponsored brand new USA Export Eco-sport model to the department to promote hands on practical training and nurture the research and development activities through Ford CSR activities “Taking Education Further”. Furthermore, the department extends its wings in Motorsport activities, the students can design, develop and manufacture the Go Kart Vehicle, Electric Vehicle to participate various national level motorsports events.

DM1: To create professionals with the ability to design, develop and progress with the latest technology in automotive sector.

DM2: To inculcate creativity, innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship qualities required for the automotive industry.

DM3: To foster social responsibility and ethical behaviour for the welfare of the society.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems

2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences

3. Design / development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations

4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions

5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations

6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice

7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development

8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice

9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings

10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions

The department establish strong footprint in Industry Collaborations.  First of its kind in India, the department have a Centre of Excellence in Volvo Eicher Commercials Vehicle and Royal Enfield.  Both the Centre of Excellence established with more then 30 thousand square feet along with various Eicher trucks 3 No’s and Royal Enfield 8 different bike model along with various components and its cut section working model installed to impart real time functional capabilities of the various systems.  The Ford India Pvt Ltd, donated brand new USA Export Ecosport model to the department to promote hands on practical training and nurture the research and development activities through Ford CSR activities “Taking Education Further”.  First of its in Coimbatore the department associated with Ashok Leyland 3i Cell (Industry Institute Integration) for enabling Guest Lecture, Industrial Vist, Project, Internship / Implant training to the students community.  Enhance the Industry Knowledge to the students AMW, Ampere Vehicles, SVM Motors, Bull Machines, EMF Innovations, ATS Elgi, Roots, Schuf Valves offer Internship / Inplant training to bridge the gap between industry and academia.  Interest of the students community Motors Sports Club established in Association with JK Tyre, MECO Sport, CRA Motorsports and Spark Racing.
